The best candidate for ear surgery

It could be a candidate for ear pinning (Otoplasty) if you have ears that stick too far from the side of the head. You can also have an Otoplasty procedure if your ears have an unusual or undesirable.
The goal is to create ears that have normal folds and shape with normal protrusion of the side of the head.
Otoplasty is usually performed on an outpatient basis under sedation and local or general anesthesia. The ears are usually bandaged with a dressing of a head band for several days. Initial mild postoperative discomfort is easily controlled with oral medications.
The adequacy of the procedure that starts at the age of 5 or 6 or at any later time. The ears usually look "normal" within 10-20 days. Usually a head band takes 2-3 weeks to protect the ears. Contact sports should be avoided for about a month.
Any facial procedure that you want or would be desirable to improve the result.
This procedure is considered cosmetic and therefore not usually covered by insurance. The risks and the suitability of this procedure for a given person can only be determined at the time of consultation.
All surgical procedures have some degree of risk. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome from time to time occur. Major complications are unusual.
The surgery usually lasts two or three hours, the technique depends on the problem. In one of the most common techniques, the surgeon makes a small incision in the back of the car to drive to expose the cartilage. Then the surgeon to sculpt the cartilage and bend your head backwards.
Items that are not removable may be used to help maintain the new shape. Sometimes as a great piece of cartilage is removed to give a more natural moments when the action is completed. In another technique, the incision is made on the back of the ear.

Pain in the ear can be relived by medication. Within a few days, the bulky bandages will be replaced by a light dressing like a Headband. The dressing should be used day and night points are removed or dissolve in about a week. About a month, avoid any activity that bends the ear.
Adults can return to work or five days. Children can return to school after a week. Most patients are satisfied with the results of ear surgery. Be realistic your goals and not expect a perfect symmetry in both ears. The purpose of the surgery does not improve perfection.
