The Abdomen or Tummy Tuck surgery generally is the reconstruction of 3 planes:

* Skin Surgery
* Removal of fat (sometimes helped by liposuction or not)
* Plication of the rectus muscles and muscle reconstruction.

Women and men who have loose skin and fat, concentrated in the abdomen can have great benefit from tummy tuck surgery. Sometimes these conditions are inherited. Some other times, lost much weight can cause the abdominal skin becomes flaccid. Abdominoplasty can also strengthen the muscles that are separated and weak after pregnancy. The operation can also improve stretch marks, especially those that are below the navel.

The procedures (usually), the surgeon makes a long incision from one side to another of the hip bone (coxal). Is surgically removed excess fat and skin from the middle and middle abdomen, and stretch the muscles of the abdominal wall.

There is a less complex process called partial abdominoplasty. This is ideal for people who have fat deposits limited to the area below the navel.

If you are planning a pregnancy or losing weight in the future, this should be discussed with your plastic surgeon.

Scars from previous abdominal surgery may limit the results of the abdominoplasty.

The best candidates for this surgery are men and women who are physically fit but have large fat deposits or loose skin in the abdomen that can not be eliminated through diet or exercise.

Usually the horizontal incision is placed just at or above the public area. The length of the incision varies along the pelvis, depending on the excess skin is removed. The edge of the incision varies depending on the structure of the patient’s abdomen and the style of bathing suit or underwear that the person prefers. The surgeon tried (usually) to keep the incision within those lines, but this is not always possible.

Some patients have loose skin above the navel. In this case, the practitioner can make a second incision around the navel so that excess skin can be pulled down. The excess skin is removed then. The navel is reconstructed in its original position.
